  a substitute teacher. Discover what drives William, his favorite aspects of working

  and his advice for anyone starting as a substitute teacher.

<h2>Why did you become a Substitute Teacher?</h2>

<p>
 I always wanted to work in a school setting. Before I became a substitute teacher, 
 I was a tutor and worked for enrichment programs during the summer at UT Austin and UCLA. 
 I always loved working in a school environment. My high school mentor started her 
 career as a substitute teacher, and I decided to go the same route as well. 
 I always loved working with students and knowing I play an 
 important role in students' futures is what keeps me going to work every day. 
</p>

<h2> What do you like about Cross Country Education?</h2>
<p>I’ve been working for seven years with Cross Country when it was called “Direct Ed.” 
  Throughout the years, Cross Country has been so supportive and flexible with me. 
  If I have any questions or concerns, the Cross Country staff are quick to help or 
  contact the school site on my behalf. They don’t take me or any other employee 
  for granted. 
</p>

<h2> What have you liked about your experience working at schools with Cross Country 
  Education?</h2>
<p>The Cross Country staff is very friendly. Each time I call the office for a request or 
  sick leave, they never give me a hard time. I also appreciate the additional resources 
  they gave us to become better teachers. The optional workshops they provide through 
  Zoom are very informative and help anyone entering the educational field. I’m grateful 
  Cross Country provides those resources for us.
</p>

<h2> What kind of advice would you give to those starting out in your field?</h2>
<p>It’s not an easy job, especially when you go in as a TA or a substitute teacher. 
  But if you have the passion to teach and mold the new generation of inventors, 
  engineers, artists, and many possibilities, it’s worth working in the field of 
  education. To know you are making a difference in a student's future is already 
  filling enough to continue working as an educator.
</p>
