This month, we’re spotlighting an amazing DIS Counselor, Alex L.</p><p>Here’s why Alex became a DIS Counselor and what he enjoys most about working with Cross Country Education.</p><h3><strong>Why did you become a DIS Counselor?</strong></h3><p>As a DIS/ERICS Counselor, I became a Special Education provider because I am deeply passionate about helping students overcome challenges and reach their full potential. I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their individual circumstances. My role allows me to advocate for their needs, support their social and emotional development, and empower them to build confidence in their abilities. It’s incredibly rewarding to witness their growth and success, and I am committed to making a positive impact in their lives.</p><h3><strong>What do you like about Cross Country Education?</strong></h3><p>I like the collaborative spirit and commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of students and educators. The supportive environment fosters professional growth, allowing me to connect with dedicated colleagues and innovative practices in education. It's rewarding to be part of a team that values both passion and excellence in education.</p><h3><strong>What have you liked about your experience working at schools with Cross Country Education?</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</h3><p>What I have liked most about my experience is that any resources/tools that I may have needed to successfully help students, have been made easily and readily accessible to access whenever needed.&nbsp;</p><h3><strong>What kind of advice would you give to those starting out in your field?</strong></h3><p>Starting your journey in DIS/ERICS Counseling can be both exciting and challenging, but don’t let it deter you. In this field I think it’s super important to embrace continuous learning, build strong relationships, practice self-care (&lt;- make that a non-negotiable!), regularly consult with experienced professionals, and lastly, stay ethical and culturally competent.
