  life has it, emergencies and crises can crop up anywhere at any time. And
  being in a new city means you&rsquo;re cut off from familiar services and
  nearby help. To stay safe and get assistance when you need it, load your phone
  with a list of contacts for every situation you might encounter on and off the
  job.

    If the emergency is life-threatening always call 911 first, which will put
    you in touch with the local police and/or fire department.<br />

  <li>
    For on the job injuries (such as exposure to HIV or a back injury resulting
    from lifting a patient) contact your recruiter, and then report the incident
    to your staff supervisor (whose cell and work number should also be in your
    phone).<br />

  <li>
    For housing safety issues (break-ins, robberies, or attacks) include the
    phone number for your property manager or apartment complex emergency
    line.If you live alone and have gotten to know a few residents in your
    building, include their numbers on your contact list as well; it helps to
    have a familiar face with you while waiting for the police to arrive.<br />

    Off the clock and out for the evening? Include the phone numbers of any
    roommates or housemates, as well as the number of a local taxi company,
    Uber, or Lyft.<br />

    local physician and neighborhood pharmacy, preferably one that
    delivers.&nbsp;<br />

    Traveling by car? Sign up for roadside assistance and include the
    company&rsquo;s toll-free number in your phone index.<br />

  </li>
  <li>
    Always list phone numbers for immediate family as well as your primary care
    physician back home. If you are badly hurt, first responders will want to be
    able to contact your loved ones and have access to your medical history.
    Some of that information can be accessed through your recruitment agency and
    hospital employer; another good reason why these phone numbers should be
    listed on your phone.&nbsp;<br />

    If you want to lock your phone with a passcode to keep your private
    information from getting into the wrong hands, it&rsquo;s a good idea to
    download a mobile app that displays emergency contact information on your
    lock screen so that medics and medical workers can access that data without
