This time, we're spotlighting one of our outstanding social workers, Brandi M.</p><p>Here's why Brandi decided to become a social worker, what she enjoys most about working with the Cross Country Education team and schools, and what advice she has for social workers just starting their careers.</p><h2>Social Worker Brandi M.</h2><ul><li><strong>Why did you become a social worker?</strong></li><li>I became a social worker because I wanted to follow in the footsteps of those who supported, encouraged and advocated for me throughout my lifetime. I specifically chose school social work because I love being in a school environment and working with youth.</li><li><strong>What do you like about Cross Country Education (CCE)?</strong></li><li>The amount of support that I have received from my recruiter has been a highlight during my experience with CCE. I also appreciate their commitment to social responsibility as well as compassion being one of their core values.</li><li><strong>What have you liked about working at schools with CCE?</strong></li><li>Working in the schools with the support from CCE has reminded me why I love doing what I do. The school is a good fit and so is my rapport with my recruiter.</li><li><strong>What advice would you give someone starting in your field/profession?</strong></li><li>Have boundaries and advocate for your needs. Social workers advocate for others. It’s important we advocate for ourselves. Ask questions, lots of them, and practice mindfulness. This role can be overwhelming at times.
