Here's why Brittany decided to become a <a href="https://www.crosscountryeducation.com/job-search-results?what=School+Nurses&amp;&amp;where=" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">school nurse</a>, what she enjoys most about working with the Cross Country Education team and schools, and what advice she has for nurses just starting their careers.</p><h3>Why did you become a school nurse?</h3><p>When I first became a nurse, I always knew I wanted to work in the mental health or the pediatric field. I became a mental health nurse that would devote my weekends to serving at my local Church’s Children's Ministry. I loved working with the students and families so much that I knew that I wanted to transition into following my dream of becoming a School Nurse. Growing up I would remember going to the School Nurse’s office and feeling so welcomed, understood, and cared for as I struggled with medical conditions in Elementary School. I wanted to be able to be that type of caretaker for the scholars of our future generation. I also wanted to be an educator on how to build healthier communities/lifestyles.</p><h3>What do you like about Cross Country Education?</h3><p>What I LOVE about Cross Country Education is the extensive training, resources, and support that has been provided. Cross Country Education ensures that schools, students, and staff receive access to high-quality resources and services. I am also grateful for the amount of support we are given mentally. CCE provides weekly reminders and resources to ensure providers are practicing/implementing self-care. It is very fulfilling to feel valued and cared for by a company.</p><h3>What have you liked about your experience working at CCE schools?</h3><p>I have enjoyed the variety of students, faculty, and families I have worked with. Being able to work with multiple students with unique stories and conditions has been very rewarding. I have enjoyed my time working with each school and building that rapport with students, faculty, and families.</p><h3>What kind of advice would you give to someone starting out in your field?</h3><p>Take it one day at a time! As you continue working, you will gain the experience and knowledge you need.
