What a great question! First, let me say how excited I am for you and the hospital at which you are currently assigned. It is our goal at Cross Country to match you and your skills with a hospital that is a great fit for you both professionally and culturally. I love to hear success stories like this.

Many of our travelers stay at the same location for multiple assignments and really enjoy staying at the same location. First, let&rsquo;s talk about the process and what needs to occur.

As soon as you know you have interest in staying at your current assignment, please inform your recruiter and/or the on-site representative of your desire. In turn, we will reach out to the healthcare facility to discuss your desire and see if the need will continue to exist. Many managers are happy to extend an assignment if the need remains because this leads to a continuum of care for the patients. It is also a great benefit for the staff to have the same traveler on the unit for an extended period of time who knows the routine and the staff.

We will make arrangements with the Nurse Manager of the unit to extend the assignment as quickly as possible so you may make plans accordingly for your continued stay. We will also coordinate all of the housing arrangements and all other items related to your stay.

The key to honoring your request is communication! The earlier we know the more likely we can confirm an extension of your stay. So, please communicate with your recruiter and nurse manager so we may coordinate everything on your behalf.

At times the nurse manager may reach out to you and ask you if you have a desire to extend your assignment at this location. If this occurs, again, please communicate this to your recruiter as soon as possible.

I am about to finish an assignment, and I loved the hospital! Can I request to stay here, or am I required to pick an assignment at a different hospital?
